Next run, the director nudges the actor toward higher-rated deliveries, but doesn’t force a single one. Better options become more likely, not guaranteed. The actor can plan bigger steps, then smoothly squeeze them to stay inside the tape, while accounting for how that squeeze changes the real move.
With a small range of strong deliveries, the actor can handle missed cues without freezing. The odd part is what works best. Reliability doesn’t come from locking onto one “sure thing.” It comes from keeping a disciplined bit of uncertainty on purpose.
